Story Line:
Rukminibai (Shabana Azmi) runs a brothel where the prostitutes entertain their clients with song and dance. The star attraction is Zeenat (Smita Patil) Rukminibai’s beautiful, talented and virginal ingénue. Once patronised by eager princes, the prestige of the brothel has diminished over the decades and Rukminibai now finds herself dependent on the whims of the moral and the corrupt.
